bicycle clubs and groups within Santa Barbara County. They all welcome
new members and visitors alike. Their websites, as shown by the active
links in their names, will give you information about their rides, meetings,
and other activities.

Santa Maria

Col Vento Cycling
Col Vento Cycling is a cycling team comprised of a diverse group of athletes
from the Santa Maria and the Central California Coast area. Established
in 1989, the USA Cycling sanctioned club and a member of the United States
Cycling Federation (USCF), Col Vento has grown from an eight rider team
in 1989 to over 35 today. They partner with local shops to provide bikes
to underprivileged children.

Santa Maria BMX
Santa Maria BMX provides families a fun and rewarding experience through
the thrill of bicycle motocross on their own track. They provide a safe,
comfortable environment for riders of all ages and skill levels. Riders
of nearly any age who can ride a bike are welcome to practice and race.
They are sanctioned by the National Bicycle League (NBL).

Tailwinds Bicycle Club
Tailwinds is a group of sociable cyclists offering members and visitors
a variety of no-drop rides with food and drink stops. They offer rides
for every fitness level from flat rides around Santa Maria as well as longer,
more challenging rides all around northern Santa Barbara county. To improve
your health and fitness, meet like-minded cyclists, and have a lot of fun,
join Tailwinds for rides and meetings.

Los Olivos

Stump Grinder Dirt Club
The SGDC has been promoting an active cycling lifestyle since 1998. The
club has access to a private location for mountain biking on a ranch near
Los Olivos where enthusiasts enjoy biking in a safe location among other
bikers. With two downhill trails, a 12-mile cross country course, and miles
of dirt double track ranch roads, the ranch has countless opportunities
for riders of all abilities.

Santa Ynez

Santa Ynez Valley Cycling Club
This is the newest club in the county. They have weekly rides for members
and guests. Monthly meetings have featured speakers, and social BBQs keep
the members connected. The contact is their blog, a website is promised
for 2011.
 Lompoc

Lompoc Valley Bicycle Club
The LVBC is a nonprofit, family oriented, recreational organization dedicated
to the sport of cycling. The club welcomes both novice and experienced riders,
road and mountain, as well as those who are just starting out with cycling.

Village Dirtbags
The Dirtbags have a strong passion for cycling, healthy competition, friendship
and good fun. They are ambassadors of cycling, working to promote mountain
biking while preserving and protecting the environment where they live and ride.
They give away bikes to needy children each Christmas, and support the county
foodbank, the wounded veterans’ Ride 2 Recovery, plus juvenile diabetes and
breast cancer organizations.

Goleta

Goleta Valley Cycling Club
The GVCC is a southern Santa Barbara county recreational and sport touring
association committed to promoting safety, health and fitness through the
shared social activity of bicycling. Members receive a monthly newsletter
and shop discounts. They actively support the larger community with grants,
helmets, lights, bikes for youth and bikepath cleanup.

Echelon Santa Barbara
Echelon is a road bicycling club based in Santa Barbara. The club welcomes
dedicated new riders and experienced racers, men and women, old or young,
and all those who want to expand their cycling horizons. With a legacy in
Santa Barbara bike racing dating back to 1984, the USCF-registered club
encourages cyclists to become involved in competitive level training and
racing. They promote road races, criteriums, and time trials. Their weekly
training ride pace ranges from 18 to a scorching 30+ MPH.

Elings Park BMX Raceway
The Elings Park bicycle motor-cross BMX track provides great riding and
competetive racing opportunities for participants of all ages and abilities.
Sanctioned by the American Bicycle Association (ABA), the race track
organization is dedicated to creating a healthy, positive cycling environment
for members and visitors.
